Medical advances every day, a new discovery this year could forever erase Alzheimer’s disease from the list.

These New Year 2015 could be the happiest for patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Scientists at Stanford University believe that they have found a solution for this, so far incurable, disease. The drug is simply raising the immune system.

The researchers found that nerve cells die because other cells, called “microglia”, in charge of cleaning the brain from viruses and bacteria, they don’t do their job.

These cells are functioning well in his youth, but as the years pass, one protein – EP 2, prevents them from doing their job properly.

Scientists have shown that blocking this protein allows cells “cleaners” to re-do their work freely and remove the sticky plaques that damage nerve cells in patients suffering from Alzheimer’s.

They were able to test mice that suffer from this disease, regain their memory by blocking protein EP 2.

What is more interesting is the fact that during the experiments, the scientists were able to genetically modified mice that devices do not need to mention protein and these mice were unable to develop any form of dementia.
